September fast approaches, and another set of Drawn to Help cards is in the proverbial wind. WaterAid is the current favourite for donations, but I wanted to give anyone who hasn't voted yet a chance to do so on the poll below. Voting closes on August 31st.
Unfamiliar with the project? It's all about making art affordable and then donating a portion of the proceeds to causes picked by artists like you. We have raised nearly a thousand dollars so far for everything from protecting wildlife habitat to providing drinking water to rural villages to encouraging children to read and write, and so on. You can find more info in previous journal entries, or visit the ACEOs gallery folder. Don't see a cause you would like to donate to? Leave a reply here to suggest causes for future card sets! Due to volume of notes and such, I may not reply to each suggestion immediately, but I do take them all into consideration and do my research; and often they end up in the poll for the next set.I would also like to give a shout out to all of the fabulous stock photographers of Deviant Art who have generously provided their stock as drawing reference for the project. If you are a stock photographer who would like to participate, please let me know! (Wild animal stock is particularly welcome - it's one of my favourite subjects for a card set.)
Or, no matter what you do, if you want to participate in another fun activity, with several Deviant Art Premium Memberships still to be awarded, see this journal entry for our planting project.
Phew...
So, I made it 120 days into my New Year's Resolution / goal of posting an ACEO every day on Etsy with a portion of proceeds going to Farm Sanctuary and Unicef. 1/3 of the year isn't a bad showing!
But then this third semester hit, and several major campaigns with it, and part-time work, still, and trying to ensure that I have funding for my next semester of school... and ...
I didn't make day 121.
That doesn't mean I'm going to stop! But it does mean I'm going to take a brief hiatus to catch up on everything else before I crash. I'll draw whenever I can, and have a bit of a buffer to work with when school starts up again in the fall.

2016 - The Drawn to Help Project, Revisited
Good morning, everyone! Happy 2016!
2015 was an incredibly busy and eventful year. Left the job, back in school at last, finally working toward that teaching license I had started out on the path to years ago.
But in the run-up to that, which was quite chaotic, art rather went by the wayside. That's why, in the new year, I'm going to resolve to draw something new every day. Naturally, that means the return of the Drawn to Help project. I think I'll start with baby animals for January - it seems time for a fresh start and the infinite possibility that represents!
I'm going to keep it simple this year, and split the donations between UNICEF
Calling All Discworld Inhabitants
It is said that your life flashes before your eyes before you die. It's true, it's called Life. - Terry Pratchett
As many of you will know, one of the world's best-loved authors died yesterday. There is nothing I can say about Terry that he could not have said better himself. So I wish to pay tribute with what skill I can offer, and plan on composing a rather over-the-top illustration of the children of his mind.
If anyone out there would like to take part in being part of this project (it's going to take a while, I'm sure), I will be needing reference photos. If you feel like you look like or identify with a character of Discworld (here's
How the Time Flies!
... Like a tea-tray in the sky.
Yes, I'm having a white-rabbit moment, as I only just realized that it's November! Not will be - is!
I do have the November set of cards started, and will catch up on posting them just as soon as I have a day off on Monday.
Many thanks to ~HOTNStock (https://www.deviantart.com/hotnstock) for the information and suggestion of wolves as the focus of this set's donations. Since being de-listed from the endangered species list (a political move, not a scientific one), their populations have plummeted. The best way you can help? Learn about them! The more you understand, the easier it is to dispel the fears of people you may know who feel threate
