8.5: Supermeerkat!

Language tapes tend to tell you a selection of phrases specifically designed for a retired traveller who still thinks they have enough charm to appeal to the native population, if enough wine is purchased. They rather fail to tell things that someone on a tight budget might need to know, like 'Where's the grocery store?' In Italian, a friend and I learned very quickly, it is Supermercato, which somehow morphed in our minds to 'Super Meerkat!', complete with red cloak, hat, little black mustache and an Italian accent. Now I can't see a picture of a noble-and-alert-looking meerkat without thinking of Super Meerkat, master of the grocery outlet.
